PCCI-A 2008 Endorsements

For Senate: Senator Tom Harkin

Senator Harkin has a voting record of seeking peace before war, being an advocate for civil rights of all peoples, being against torture, being in favor of closing the Guantanamo Detention Center, avoiding wasteful spending of our federal government programs, being in favor of fair treatment of immigrants, and of leaving a cleaner, more green environment for our children. As such, he is the progressive's friend.

For House District 1: Rep. Bruce Braley

Rep. Bruce Braley has a voting record of standing up for working families by increasing the minimum wage, favoring investment in renewable energy sources, improved access to health care. Rep. Braley also believes the government should listen more to ordinary citizens instead of special interest groups. As such, he is a friend to working families.

For House District 2: Rep. David Loebsack

Rep. David Loebsack's voting record distinguishes him as a grassroots leader for education, social justice, human rights, and civil rights and civil liberties. Rep. Loebsack is a leader in fighting for affordable health care and affordable prescription drugs. His voting record highlights his leadership on strengthening environmental laws to protect air and water. He supports removing US troops from Iraq in an orderly fashion and favors investigating the abuses that led to the war. Rep. Loebsack believes in turning his values into action.

For House District 3: Regretfully, because of the lack of integrity and campaign tactics used by Rep. Leonard Boswell during the primary season, we are not endorsing him for re-election.

For House District 4: Challenger Becky Greenwald

Agriculture Leader: Becky Greenwald has been actively working for agriculture the past 22 years with two respected Iowa-grown seed companies.

Greenwald volunteered her time and passion for sustainable agriculture by serving on the Board of Directors of the Iowa Forage and Grassland Council (IFGC) and was elected IFGC's President in 1994. Greenwald went on to leadership positions with the American Forage and Grassland Council (AFGC) and was elected President of the national organization in 2000. Greenwald was a contributing editor with The Forage Leader, a publication sent quarterly to approximately 5,000 AFGC members. She was awarded The AFGC Presidential Citation in 2003 and was Vice President and Director of the Forage and Grassland Foundation, Inc. Becky also served on the National Alfalfa Variety Review Board and is a past director of the Iowa Chapter of the National Agri-Marketing Association.

Active Democrat: Greenwald is an active Iowa Democratic leader. She currently chairs the Dallas County Democrats after serving as treasurer. In 2006 Greenwald was elected to the represent the 4th District on the Iowa Democratic Party State Central Committee and is the 4th District Central Committee Secretary. When the 2005 National Governor's Association met in Des Moines Greenwald recruited and organized the volunteers for the Capitol Gala event.

For House District 5: Challenger Rob Hubler

Challenger Rob Hubler has long been an advocate for restoring real representation in the 5th Congressional District. He is a leader for education, pro-environment policies, and eliminating poverty. He believes in a reasonable withdrawal from Iraq by U.S. forces. He also believes in health care for all. Mr. Hubler will be a voice for reason in the 5th District.

Please join PCCI-ACTION in supporting Senator Tom Harkin, Rep. Bruce Barley, Rep. David Loebsack, Mr. Fallon and Mr. Rob Hubler and Kurt Meyers.
